Heavy Rigid Truck Licence

With a heavy rigid truck licence, you can drive trucks or vehicles with over 8T GVM and 3 or more axles. We provide one-on-one HR truck licence training anywhere on the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Tweed Heads, Murwillumbah, QLD, and NSW.

With our HR licence training, you can drive a wide range of heavy vehicles. It is important to note that, if you have a manual car licence and you want to obtain a condition B (synchromesh) licence, you can complete the test using an automatic vehicle. Completing your licence upgrade in an automatic vehicle makes it easier to obtain a hr licence.

Moreover, if you have an automatic car licence and want to upgrade to an HR driver’s licence, you should consider taking a test in our Heavy Rigid Synchromesh Truck. Once you complete your test with our manual trucks, you will acquire a manual car licence.

Our Heavy Rigid Trucks

If you are unsure of which vehicle you want to conduct your truck training, don’t hesitate to give us a call or visit our contact us page and we will help you decide which solution is best for you.

Heavy Rigid Automatic
Truck

Our Heavy Rigid Automatic Trucks have Allison Automatic gearboxes. These Automatic gearboxes operate just like Automatic car gearbox.

If you have a manual car licence and you complete your Heavy Rigid Licence in an Automatic truck you will still obtain an HR Condition B Licence allowing you to drive a Synchromesh Gearbox Truck and an Automatic Truck.

If you hold an Automatic car licence and you pass your test in an Automatic truck you will obtain an Automatic truck licence.

Heavy Rigid Synchromesh
Truck

Our Heavy Rigid Synchromesh Truck has a 6-speed Synchromesh gearbox. A synchromesh gearbox is the same style that you find in manual cars. If you are used to a manual car you should have no problems changing gears in this truck.

On passing your licence test in this vehicle you will have an HR Condition B licence allowing you to drive a Synchromesh Gearbox Truck and an Automatic Truck.

Heavy Rigid Road Ranger
Manual

Our Heavy Rigid Road Ranger Trucks either have an 18-speed overdrive crash/road ranger gearbox or a 15-speed deep reduction crash/road ranger gearbox. These will require doubling the clutch on both up and down changes of gear as well as matching the revs.

On passing your licence test in this vehicle you will have a heavy rigid unrestricted licence. This allows you to drive any heavy rigid vehicle.

According to the Queensland Department of Main Roads and Transport laws, with an HR licence you can drive the following:

  • Any vehicle in the Medium Rigid (MR) category,
  • A bus with more than 8 tonnes of gross vehicle mass and more than 2 axles. The bus can be with or without a trailer that doesn’t exceed 9 tonnes GVM.

While being able to do full changes like all the other road ranger boxes the 18 Speed allows us to introduce you to splitting the gears. This is very beneficial when you have a heavy load and are climbing hills.
