Truck Licence Training – FAQ’s

How much training do I need for an MR Synchromesh Licence?

Our heavy vehicle Training is customised to the individual however most participants take 3 to 4 hours of training followed by the lesson and test.

How much training do I need for an HR Automatic Licence?

Our truck driver Training is customised to the individual however most participants take 2 to 3 hours of training followed by the lesson and test.

How much training do I need for an HR Synchromesh Licence?

Our Training is customised to the individual however most participants take 3 to 4 hours of training followed by the lesson and test.

How much training do I need for an HR Unrestricted Licence?

Our heavy vehicle driver Training is customised to the individual however most participants take 8 to 12 hours of training followed by the lesson and test.

How much training do I need for an HC Automatic License?

Our Training is customised to the individual however most participants take 4 to 6 hours of training followed by the lesson and test.

What license can I go to from a Car license?

If you have held you car license for 1 year you can upgrade to the MR license or if you have held it for over 2 years you can go to a HR license.This includes the period for which you have held your P’s.

I have a car license can I go straight to an HC license?

To be eligible for a HC license you must have held either a MR or HR license for a period of greater than 1 year.

Who conducts the driving test?

For Queensland Licenses the driving test is conducted by Transport and Main Roads for NSW license’s the assessment is conduct by our instructor.

I want to get a bus license can i do it in a Truck?

The license you are obtaining is a Heavy Vehicle license so whether you complete the test in a Truck or a Bus make no difference to the license you will obtain. If however you wish to drive a bus with fee paying passengers you will have to obtain a driver’s authorisation from Transport and Main Roads.

What's a Road Ranger gear box?

A Road Ranger gear box is the most common type of constant mesh gearbox where you have to double the clutch to change gears. If you obtain your heavy vehicle license in this type of truck you will have no restrictions on the type of gear box the truck you drive can have.
